The Watching Documentary Part 1

Notes:

"The trailer is the equivalent of an opening of a film"
"More exciting features of a film go in the trailers"
Apparently Hitchcock believed that it was the beginning of his film "Psycho" that made the opening good.

It was also said by a director that "films need to seduce their audience into a long term commitment." This means that he he thinks films should lure their target audience from the beginning and not half way through. it was also said that another effective way of making your opening successful is by grabbing the attention of the audience from the first 5 minutes.

An example of a good opening is "The Believer's" as it draws in the audience from the start as there is action.

It is important to lure the audience in and keep them entertained so that they will not be able to resist so they will continue to wach.

Instant arousal isn't a good idea as the director says that the director should wait and nurture and make it grow.
