Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Camera
When we made the preliminary we didn't have much experience with the camera (angles). However when doing our final film we had many experience with the camera and the angles. When making the prelim we learned basic camera skills like clse up, medium shot, long shot, establishing shot, etc. We then developed these skills for our final film.
Mise en scene
When working on the prelim we didn't really look at mise en scene because it was just learning how to make a film and we did not have much control over what we wanted and also we recorded in a classroom. However when starting our final film we had to first set the location and costumes etc. We planned a lot when staring the final fim.
Lighting
For the lighting we worked really hard to get the right amount of light when recording. However we did not have to worry about lighting on the prelim.
Planning and Storyboarding
For our final film we planned really detailed and thought about what exactly was going to happen and we thought about the storyline and wanted it a perfect thriller. But on the prelim we came up with a story board fast and recorded quickly the whole thing. The prelim was useful when planning our final film.
Editing
As i said the prelim was just gaining experience for our final film although we learned many things when filming our final film too most of it came from the prelim. When filming the prelim we learnt how to do match cut, 180 degree rule and used these in the prelim. Although we used match cut on our final film we did not used the 180 degree rule as there were no talking in our final film as it would not have looked professional because we are not professional actors.
The differences was that i our final film we
-changed the colour of the scenes
-added titles
-used split screen
-and added music to the background
Sound
For the prelim we had dialogue so did not use any music. But for both we used foley sound to make it more realistic.
