Evaluation - Distribution (Q3)

Distribution 



The Distribution company i have decided my media product from would be a Hollywood Big Studio: Universal. At first and on the piece of media i used a local distributor (Candi Studios) but since then i have decide that Universal would be a much better choice. The reason i have chosen to change to this conglomerate owned company because it allows access to press and public networks which will then make it easier to advertise as, if it were a smaller company it would make advertising a lot harder and take a lot more money, as the access to media networks, and radio stations would not be available at hand, and instead would have to be paid for at a competitive price; the price of radio adverting, for a 30second spot played once is roughly about £1300, on popular radio stations, and for the wide success of a movie it may have to be played hundreds of times on different stations to allow for a widespread awareness of the upcoming movie, plus other promotions. This could be very difficult for a British or Local distribution company, as the budget may not be very large, where as this big company had allot more money to spend of advertising. 


Using Universal Studios for my distribution company, would also allow the movie a global distribution, with a company that dominates big cinema chains and marking machines (Tv Networks, Radio Stations, internet websites). Using a Hollywood big studio like Universal also promises a Big Budget, Big Stars and Big production Values; an example of this is the 2012 movie Thriller: Safe house, which was Distributed by Universal and had a budget of $85 million. And had big hollywood stars like Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.
