Dawn of the dead- opening
Dawn of the dead follows the conventions of film openings.
straight away we are introduced to opening credits and film companies 'Universal pictures'. however between each credit there is old photage or a quick view of action that is linked. After the producer and directers are introduced the title of the film is placed directly in the middle of a black background. The bright red and the font of the title straight aways sugests that the film will me grusome and bloody. all of the wriing e.g the title, name of directors and characters are all platterd out as a symbol of blood once shown to viewers. after the title the name of the cast are introduced. throughout the whle of the opening sequence there are sound effects such screams, a narrative voice asking questions throughout that may give the audience some understanding of the film is going to be about,we also hear sound effects such as a beating pulse. then then music is added to the sequence with lyrics witch is quite unusal, commonly on intrumentals are used in other film openings, however the lyrics to this song links to the dilema and theme of the film, to me it suggests that things is coming to an end.
i really like the opening of this film because of the visual sense of thrill and horror. the sound effects as a whole creates some horrific sense for the audience, also the narrative qustions being asked straight away lets th audience know that somethings wrong. and finally the music used half way with videos and action with the movie also adds an effect.
